This is caramel nuts bar that will give you energy needed for the day. Bittersweet and matches with the crunchy roasted nuts. The caramel is made from organic molasses and organic wild honey from New Zealand. No water is added. You can technically add any nuts of your favourite. This time I used Almonds, Hazelnuts and Walnuts.
Molasses is high in mineral content. One tablespoon of organic molasses contains 20% of the daily recommended intake for calcium, 22.5% of the daily recommended intake for magnesium and almost 40% of the recommended daily intake for iron. Molasses are used as medicine to cure: chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, anxiety, and related nervous disorders, chronic ailments such as arthritis and rheumatism, tumors and fibroids, constipation, heart palpitations, anemia, acne.
Honey is widely used as a natural sweetener, is composed of 79 per cent sugar. The rest comprises water and small amounts of vitamins, including vitamin B6, which is good for the brain, and many minerals, including calcium to strengthen the bones. Honey also contains phytonutrients such as propolis, which helps to boost immunity, and caffeic acid, which has anti-carcinogenic properties, that prevent cancer. Used topically, honey is a humectant, attracting and retaining water, which keeps the skin soft and supple.
Hazelnut are rich in unsaturated fats, the kind that are actually good for the heart by lowering the LDL bad cholesterol and raise the good HDL. Hazelnuts also contain magnesium, a mineral that regulates calcium levels in muscles, and thus increase the strength of the muscles and bones.Studies have found that the alpha-tocopherol type of vitamin E hazelnuts are so rich and may cut the risk of bladder cancer in half. Vitamin E is also protect skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation, such as skin cancer and premature ageing. The manganese in hazelnuts also protect the body from cancer, and also promotes protein and carbohydrate metabolism. Manganese is also essential for the growth and strength of bones, especially recommended for post-menopausal women to fight osteoporosis. The vitamin B6 in hazelnuts are also good for nervous system. The high content of fiber in hazelnuts promote digestive tract health. Hazelnuts are also rich in vitamin B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 and B9 (folic acid). The B vitamin complex is used throughout the body, particularly for the health of nervous system. The B vitamins assuage stress, anxiety and depression. They also improve the memory and are necessary for the production of serotonin. B9 aids hormone synthesis and riboflavin is necessary for healthy red blood cells. Niacin improves skin health by ensuring the normal function of the digestive and nervous systems. Some B vitamins help build and repair damaged DNA.
Walnuts contain protein, vitamin B6 and E, potassium, magnesium, cooper and zinc, all of which help to keep us youthful. Vitamin B6 to prevent memory loss and protect the heart, while vitamin E maintains skin and hair. Both potassium and magnesium are good for the heart, and copper helps to prevent varicoses veins. Zinc has a miraculous ability to rejuvenate the thymus gland and to boost immunity. Walnut oil is a good source of fatty acids, central to skin and heart health.
